Course Purpose

The Lead MMO course is designed for experienced MMOs who are required to lead MMO teams, interface with clients and regulators, and take responsibility for compliance, reporting, and mitigation strategy at project level.

This course focuses on leadership, coordination, regulatory interpretation, and risk management.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Lead and supervise MMO teams across shifts

• Develop and implement project-specific MMO plans

• Interpret permit conditions and EIA/ESIA requirements

• Make high-level mitigation decisions under operational pressure

• Coordinate with PAM operators (where applicable)

• Review, validate, and submit final MMO reports

• Act as the primary environmental focal point onboard

Phase 1 – Online Leadership & Compliance

• Lead MMO responsibilities

• Regulatory frameworks & permit conditions

• Risk-based mitigation planning

• Incident management & escalation

Phase 2 – Onboard Leadership Practicum

• Team supervision and task allocation

• Client and Master liaison

• Oversight of mitigation and reporting

Entry Requirement

• Advanced MMO certification

• Demonstrated offshore MMO experience
